Our generator supports six QR code types: URLs (website links), plain text, WiFi network credentials (SSID + password), email addresses (with pre-filled subject and body), phone numbers (tap to call), and SMS messages (with pre-written text). Each type is formatted according to standard QR code specifications for maximum compatibility.
QR codes themselves never expire. A QR code is just an encoded version of your data — it will always scan to reveal that data. However, if you create a QR code linking to a URL, and that URL later becomes unavailable, the QR code will still "work" but the destination won't load. For static content like text or WiFi credentials, the QR code is effectively permanent.
Error correction allows a QR code to be scanned even if partially damaged or obscured. Low (7%) — smallest code, least resilient. Medium (15%) — good balance for most uses (recommended). High (25%) — better for codes that may be printed or weathered. Highest (30%) — maximum resilience, but creates a denser code. For most online uses, Medium is ideal. Choose High or Highest for printed materials.
